Frequently asked questions

Everything a new player usually wants to know before starting. For the deeper mechanics, see the strategy guide.

What is Idle Broker?

A free browser-based idle game. You run a Wall Street trading firm — placing trades, hiring staff and automating income — and reinvest everything to grow faster on each run. It plays in the browser with no download, and you can start without an account.

Do I need to create an account?

Not to play: the game starts the moment the page loads and saves to your browser. A free account (Google, or Discord where enabled) is required for the parts that cannot survive in one browser's storage — achievements, the gem shop and the Premium subscription — because those are a permanent record or real money. Signing in later unlocks every achievement you have already earned in one go, and carries your save between devices.

Where is my progress saved?

In your browser's local storage on the device you play on. With cloud sync enabled (on by default), a snapshot is also stored so other devices can pick it up. Clearing your browser data resets a local-only game, so keep sync on if that worries you.

Does the game earn money while I'm away?

Yes, but only from automated generators, and only for up to eight hours. A generator you have not automated earns nothing while the tab is closed. Automating your generators is the single most important thing you can do — the strategy guide covers why.

Why isn't my balance going up smoothly?

Because nothing in Idle Broker pays per second. Each generator runs a timed trade and pays a lump sum when it settles, so your balance climbs in steps. The Return/s figure in the header is an average of your automated income, not a live tick.

What does the TRADE button actually do?

It starts a trade on every asset you own that isn't automated yet — the badge on the button counts how many. It has no trade of its own: in this game your assets earn, you don't. Trades you start by hand carry the Midas Touch bonus, which automated ones don't, so there is still a reason to touch the game once the floor runs itself.

What does automation cost and do?

Automation is a one-time purchase per generator, priced at fifteen times that generator's base cost, adjusted by the city's current market phase. Once bought, the generator restarts its own trades forever — including offline — with no clicking from you.

Why did all the prices change between runs?

Each city runs through three market phases as your star total closes on the next city: a cheap opening, an expensive middle, and a cheaper stretch at the end. The Investments panel names the current phase and the percentage it is adding or taking off. Prices are fixed for the length of a run and only move when you prestige or move city, so nothing re-prices underneath you mid-run.

Why do quests have to be accepted?

So that a quest measures what you do after taking it on, rather than crediting everything you happened to have done already. Tap a quest to see who is asking, what they want and what it pays, then accept it. Ownership quests are the exception — if you already meet the requirement, accepting completes it.

Should I prestige, and when?

Prestige when your balance has slowed to a crawl — when whole tiers are out of reach and buying anything barely moves the rate. You give up coins and generators but keep permanent upgrades, and every following run blows past your old peak far faster. It is the main progression mechanic, not a setback.

Can I play on mobile?

Yes. The navigation is a rail down the left edge and panels slide in beside it rather than covering the screen, so the city stays visible while you shop. You can also add the game to your home screen to play it like an installed app.

Is it really free? What is Premium?

The game is entirely free — every generator, quest, achievement, city and prestige tier is reachable without paying, and the game screen carries no ads at all (they sit on article pages like this one). What money buys is speed: gems purchase permanent character buffs, timed earnings surges, instant time warps and shortcuts between cities. Achievements hand out a couple of gems each, enough to try them; maxing the buffs realistically means buying a pack. The optional Premium subscription (239 CZK/month) doubles your earnings. Both affect how fast you progress, never what you can reach.

How do the Free Rewards work?

The Free Rewards section in the Quests panel offers a 2× earnings boost or a lump of instant cash on a cooldown timer. They are optional and free. The earnings boost stacks on top of Premium's multiplier.

I found a bug or have a suggestion — where do I send it?

The operator's contact details are on the imprint page. Feedback genuinely shapes the game.
